🔦 Spotlight on our collaborator, Guillaume Nibert, CIFRE PhD student at Snowpack and LIP6 – Laboratoire d’informatique/NPA. At the 19th edition of the Crisis 2024  conference, Guillaume received the “Best student paper award” for his work on the paper Preventing WebRTC IP Leaks! 🏅
🔎 This paper highlights the WebRTC JavaScript API, which enables text communications, VoIP or videoconferencing directly from a web browser, without the need to install third-party extensions. Through the creation of a test-bed, it has been demonstrated that implementations of this API in popular web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Edge and Brave) can leak sensitive IP addresses, particularly in configurations where the user is connected to networks without NAT, including when the user is seeking protection behind a VPN or SOCKS/HTTP(S) proxy. An effective open-source solution based on Docker has been proposed to prevent such IP address leaks. This solution is available under the GNU GPLv3 license at https://lnkd.in/ena_axmv.
đź‘Ź Well done to him and his co-authors Sebastien Tixeuil (LIP6 – Laboratoire d’informatique), Baptiste PolvĂ©, Nana Jacelie BAKALAFOUA M’BOUSSI and Xuan-Son NGUYEN for their commitment and the outstanding quality of their research!
Congratulations again on this achievement ! 🥳
